Inpatient Care
The Inpatient Unit has 12 beds in a mixture of twin and single en-suite rooms set in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, all backing onto beautiful gardens.
Our specialist team aims to give our patients and their families the care and support they need when a cure is not possible. We treat a variety of symptoms associated with life-limiting or terminal illness in order to make our patients more comfortable. We can also help with emotional, spiritual and practical issues as well as physical symptoms. Complementary therapy is offered to patients where they have a choice of massage, reflexology or aromatherapy depending upon availability of therapists. We offer a high nurse/patient ratio ensuring there is always time to spend with patients and their families.
The Quiet Room, attached to the Inpatient Unit, is a place for reflection, meditation, prayer or worship and is available to people of all faiths or none.
The whole Inpatient team is trained to support families in observing the religious and cultural rituals that are important to them and can also help with some of the more practical things that need to be considered after death.
The average stay in the Unit is between 7 and 10 days with over half of patients feeling able to return home again.
Referrals to the Inpatient Unit are accepted from Healthcare Professionals.
